Shakespeare comedy comes to Kingston stage

A high-energy and fast-paced version of one of Shakespeare’s most chaotic comedies will arrive at Kingston Butter Factory Cultural Precinct next week.

William Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors will be performed at the Butterbox Theatre at 11am and 7.30pm on Thursday, 4 June and at 7.30pm on and Friday, 5 June.

The one-hour production is being presented with a young cast of second-year actors from Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, bringing physical comedy, mistaken identities and twin confusion to the stage.

The Comedy of Errors is one of Shakespeare’s shortest and most farcical plays, built around two sets of separated twins and a chain of increasingly absurd misunderstandings.

Logan Arts describes the adaptation as an accessible retelling designed to keep audiences laughing from start to finish.

The production is recommended for ages 15 and over and is suitable for secondary school and general audiences, although it contains adult references and mature themes presented in an exaggerated comic style.

Tickets are $30 for adults and $22 for concession or student tickets, with a $3 transaction fee applying.

Doors open 30 minutes before each performance at Kingston Butter Factory Cultural Precinct, 270 Jacaranda Avenue, Kingston.
