3D-printed firearms manufactured at Greenbank property

Two functional 3D-printed FGC9 firearms, suppressors and high-capacity magazines have allegedly been found during a police search at Greenbank.

Queensland Police said detectives from the Illicit Firearms Team searched a property as part of investigations related to 3D-printed firearms manufacturing.

Police said they also found a number of 3D-printed magazines and firearm parts, three industrial-sized 3D printers, computer equipment and plans allegedly linked to firearm manufacturing.

A 56-year-old Greenbank man has been charged with unlawful possession of a Category H firearm, manufacturing a firearm, possessing blueprints or instructions and possessing a Category R weapon.

He has been issued a notice to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on 20 July.

Drug and Serious Crime Group Detective Inspector Brad Phelps said illegal firearms, including weapons made using 3D printing technology, posed a serious risk to the community.

“The increasing accessibility of 3D-printed firearms is a concern, and we will continue targeting those involved through proactive, intelligence-led policing operations,” Detective Inspector Phelps said.

“Police remain focused on disrupting the manufacture, possession and distribution of unlawful weapons to help protect the community from potential harm.”

Police urged anyone with information about illegal firearms or equipment used to make them to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
