Two teenage boys from Crestmead have been charged over a series of alleged car thefts and break-ins across Brisbane’s south.
Police allege the incidents took place between 28 and 30 March across several suburbs, including Stretton, Calamvale, Forest Lake and Parkinson.
Streets named include Penson and Frizzell streets in Stretton, Daffodil Crescent and Stockton Street in Calamvale, Sanctuary Drive in Forest Lake, and a number of residential streets in Parkinson.
Officers located the boys, aged 16 and 17, on Awoonga Street in Marsden on 2 April.
Police allege the 17-year-old attempted to run from officers and, while climbing a fence into a backyard, landed on a cactus and sustained minor injuries.
It is further alleged that he dropped a bag during the chase, which was later found to contain a number of car keys and a small quantity of cannabis.
He was arrested at the scene and has been charged with 11 counts of attempting to enter a dwelling, along with one count each of entering a dwelling, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possessing drugs, unlawful possession of suspected stolen property and wilful damage.
He is expected to appear before the Brisbane Children’s Court on 11 May.
Police allege the 16-year-old also attempted to flee, entering a nearby property before he was arrested a short time later with assistance from a resident.
He has been charged with 11 counts of attempting to enter a dwelling, and one count each of entering a dwelling and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
He is due to appear before the Brisbane Children’s Court on 20 April.
Police said the charges form part of Operation X-Ray Steeler, an ongoing initiative targeting property-related offences across Brisbane’s southern suburbs.
Since October 2025, more than 1,650 people have been charged with nearly 4,800 offences under the operation. More than 330 of those charged are juveniles.
Investigations are ongoing. Police are asking anyone with information or relevant footage to come forward.
