Impact Care Services is gearing up to feed 600 people this Good Friday at their Good Feed event – an initiative to help people experiencing homelessness and hardship.
Hosted at Impact’s Fusion Café, the annual event transforms the venue into a welcoming community hub, offering free hot meals, conversation, and support to those who need it most.
Impact Care Services development director Heath Henwood said The Good Feed was a Good Friday community meal that brought warmth, dignity and connection to people experiencing homelessness and hardship.
“The Good Feed is a special Good Friday initiative where Impact Care Services provides up to 300 free hot meals to people experiencing homelessness, loneliness, or financial stress,” Mr Henwood said.
“Fusion Café closes to the public for the day and operates exclusively as a community service venue, serving a full meal—soup entrée, a choice of three hot mains, dessert and non‑alcoholic drinks.”
“The initiative focuses on restoring dignity, reducing food insecurity and strengthening social connection during a time when many community members feel most isolated.”
Mr Henwood said for some, public holidays can be the loneliest days of the year.
“The Good Feed offers not only nourishment but a sense of belonging,” he said.
“It supports people sleeping rough in tent cities, those living in severe hardship, and individuals who may have no family or social network to lean on.”
“By providing a safe, welcoming space, the event helps reduce isolation and strengthens trust between vulnerable residents and local support services.”
This year, Impact Care Services anticipates serving 600 Brisbane and Logan residents through the combined meal service and outreach engagement and expects to distribute more than 1000 Easter eggs to vulnerable families and individuals across the community.
“Outreach will continue in the lead‑up to the event, with volunteers distributing flyers and Easter eggs in known homeless locations,” Mr Henwood said.
Impact Care Services’ Good Feed event will be held from noon on Friday, 3 April at Impact Centre, 3357 Pacific Highway, Slacks Creek.
