A Loganlea man, 51, has been charged with dangerous driving, which police allege caused the death of a baby.
Police allege the man was driving a grey Toyota Hilux when it hit a silver Jeep Cherokee parked on the side of the M1 northbound lane in Gaven, near the Smith Street ramp, at 2.50am on 21 September.
A 24-year-old Ormeau Hills woman and a male baby were inside the Jeep at the time of the crash.
Both Jeep passengers were taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition, but the male baby “died a short time later,” police said.
Police charged the man with one count each, four offences total, of: “dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death, offence of driving while a relevant drug is present in blood or saliva, and driving without due care and attention or without reasonable consideration for other persons, causing death or grievous bodily harm”.
He is due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow, Friday, 12 December.
Police say their investigations remain ongoing.
