Ten-year-old Patrick Meszaro is spending his Christmas building and donating Lego gifts for hundreds of local children.
It’s something the Shailer Park local has done for the last four years.
And while Patrick and his family will soon be moving down to Adelaide, they’re promising to return to Logan next year to bring more smiles to children’s faces.
Patrick was inspired to start gifting Lego vehicles of his own design in 2022 after hearing Louie Naumovski from the Logan House Fire Support Network speak on the news about a family who had lost everything in a house fire just before Christmas.
Patrick at the time made the decision to give some of his own Lego to the children who had lost their toys.
Since then, his generosity has only grown.
In 2022, Patrick built and donated 50 Lego vehicles to the Logan House Fire Support Network.
In 2023, he created 62 vehicles for Logan Hospital’s children ward so sick children could receive a gift on Christmas Day.
Last year, he donated more than 100 vehicles to Logan Hospital and an emergency services toy run – a new personal best.
This year, his goal was to donate more than 200 handmade creations, which he has now achieved thanks to a recent visit to Logan Hospital.
Patients and LEGO fans Archie Sanders and Samuel Kuip were among many children to receive a Lego gift by Patrick, who personally delivered his creations to the Children’s Inpatient Unit (CIU).
The CIU team said they were incredibly proud of Patrick for surpassing his 2025 goal highlighted the ongoing impact of his kind act.
“Thanks to Patrick’s generosity, the spirit of Christmas lives on in our wards well into the year,” they said.
“Donating so many creations means we can hand out gifts year-round.
“They are a particularly welcome distraction for children undergoing tough procedures or those staying with us for extended periods.”
Patrick’s move to Adelaide won’t slow his giving spirit down – he has already set a new goal of 300 donations for 2026 and his mum Nerida said the family was planning their trip back to Logan to keep the tradition alive.
