Woman, 25, charged with armed robbery after alleged knife, garden tool threats

A woman has been charged with armed robbery after allegedly threatening multiple people with a gardening tool and knife.

Police allege the Edens Landing woman, 25, visited a unit-complex on University Drive, Meadowbrook at 1.45am today “armed with a sharp gardening tool”.

It is alleged the woman approached two women – a 19-year-old and 20-year-old – threatening the 19-year-old with the tool,” police said in a statement.

“The woman allegedly walked the pair out of the complex and across the road, where she forced the 19-year-old to call a taxi, before stealing the 20-year-old’s mobile phone and leaving in the taxi.”

About three hours later, just before 5am, it is alleged the woman threatened staff with a knife at a coffee shop on Logan River Road, Bethania.

A patron grabbed the knife from her, and the woman fled,” the police statement read.

“No one was physically injured during either incident.

“Police were notified and attended the location where they arrested a woman nearby.”

The woman has since been charged with two counts of armed robbery and one count of possessing dangerous drugs.

She is scheduled to appear at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court today, 5 November.
