State budget doesn’t give enough ‘new’ to Logan’s west

RECENTLY the first LNP budget was legislated and really disappointingly we have seen less delivered for growing areas of Logan.

A growing area suffers from LNP cuts more than other areas as more population puts more pressure on existing services.

Locals tell me every day that we need more investment in our roads.

In this budget there is no new funding for four-lane safety projects anywhere in Logan.

I’m pushing for a proper four lane investment in a safer intersection at Stegemann Road, building upon the intersection we delivered at North Street and through all the way to Hotz Road.

The LNP during the election promised to deliver a second exit for Yarrabilba, but again in this budget there is nothing to fund the second exit on to Waterford Tamborine Road.

Nobody really knows what they are going to do about safety on Waterford-Tamborine Road.

Locals know how dangerous the road can get in traffic and especially so in poor driving conditions.

We also saw no new investment in the Mt Lindesay Highway, though at least they didn’t cut the four-lane project in Jimboomba that we started and is currently being constructed.

I’ll continue to stand up for Logan to build a proper four lane highway all the way from Browns Plains to Jimboomba that we committed to in the 2018 10-year plan.

At the last election we said we would deliver a satellite hospital in Yarrabilba.

The LNP made lots of talk about better health but when it came to actually delivering for Logan, they looked at the Yarrabilba satellite hospital and decided that they could cut that.

We have a large growing community in Yarrabilba and the surrounding communities in Logan Village, Jimboomba, Logan Reserve and Park Ridge.

Not building this satellite hospital only means worse health outcomes for locals.

It means more pressure on our local GPs, more pressure on our ambulance station in Yarrabilba and more pressure on Logan Hospital which we’ve already seen had to cancel elective surgeries.

That’s why I am calling on the Crisafulli LNP government to build a satellite hospital in Yarrabilba.

This isn’t the end of fighting for Logan though, I will continue to pressure the Crisafulli government to properly fund the infrastructure and services we need in our growing area.  We need to ensure that Logan isn’t overlooked and pushed aside.
