Yarrabilba is growing at a rapid pace and it’s time our services caught up.
Over the past two years, our population has more than doubled, yet families and businesses are still forced to travel to neighbouring suburbs just to post a letter or pick up a parcel.
That is simply not good enough for a community of this size.
Residents speak to me every week about the impact this has on their lives.
Seniors, young families, parents juggling school runs and work shifts, all spending precious time and money on public transport or in the car just to access basic postal services.
What should be a simple five-minute task often turns into a frustrating, costly journey.
Our small businesses are feeling the pinch too. Without a local post office, they’re stuck with expensive couriers or rigid pick-up schedules, costs which inevitably flow on to customers.
It’s hurting their bottom line and holding them back from growing and hiring more locals.
Yarrabilba deserves better.
A post office here would mean convenience, safety, and security.
People could collect registered mail and track important parcels in person, reducing the risk of lost or delayed items.
Schools, sporting clubs, and community organisations could send out newsletters and fundraising material quickly and affordably.
Importantly, it would also bring jobs to Yarrabilba.
Staffing a local post office would create opportunities for young people and locals, supporting traineeships and apprenticeships while keeping employment close to home.
It’s clear, a post office is no longer a nice-to-have for Yarrabilba.
It is a critical piece of infrastructure for a fast-growing, connected, and thriving community.
That’s why I’m calling on all residents to back this push.
