Logan City Council has announced that City Venue Management will operate pools and fitness centres in Logan from 1 July.
Aquatic and fitness centres in Logan West and Gould Adams Park are currently being managed by CVM, who will now manage centres in Logan North, Beenleigh, Bethania and Eagleby.
Mayor Jon Raven said the management change will enable the centres to be run cost-effectively without compromising the quality of the facilities.
“We’re trying to run the most efficient Council possible to take pressure off people’s rates – this is part of that,” he said.
“City Venue Management is an expert in the day-to-day running of pools and fitness centres.
“This means Council can better focus its efforts and resources on the other important services and programs we deliver to the Logan community.”
Staffing changes are unclear; CVM said they hope to retain “as many Council employees as possible.”
CVM CEO Jay Clarke said the opportunity to manage additional centres in the City of Logan was a milestone.
“This appointment represents a significant milestone in our commitment to the Logan community,” he said.
“We are incredibly proud to be entrusted with the management of Logan’s entire aquatic network and to continue our collaboration with Logan City Council.
“Across all six facilities, we look forward to delivering high-quality programs – from Learn to Swim and squad training to group fitness and wellness experiences – while continuing to grow these venues as welcoming lifestyle community hubs for every resident.”
In the last 30 years, CVM has managed centres across South East Queensland, some of which currently host seven national team swimmers training for the upcoming Olympic games.
“We have the coaches, infrastructure, and development framework in place to support emerging athletes and future champions,” Mr Clarke said.
“We are also excited to focus on revitalising athletes, swimming and sporting pathways, including the reinvigoration of the Logan Vikings Swim Club with a clear pathway to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
“We have the coaches, infrastructure, and development framework in place to support emerging athletes and future champions.”
