Come on down to Logan

The word around old Brisbane town

Is there’s nothing to do in Logan

It is such a long way down,

To visit, you must be jokin’!

But those of us who live down here

Have never had regrets

For we know life abounds ‘round here

Logan’s South-east Q’s best-kept secret!

With shopping centres all around

We stock everything you need

And restaurants and coffee shops

Where you can grab a good feed!

“But no one wants to come here”, I hear you say

So let me change your mind

We have mountains, lakes and rivers

And parks of many kinds.

There’s Daisy Hill State Forest

Koala habitat and park

There you can go wildlife spotting

With a ranger after dark.

I’m very glad I live here

And I want you all to know

That I have travelled far and wide

Even to places many don’t go.

And I have never seen so many birds

‘Cept here in my suburb where,

In the garden I’ve seen and heard

Birds common and birds rare.

But there’s one more thing I’ve left till last

And that was my intention.

It’s the diversity of Logan people

That deserves a special mention.

We come from many cultures here

And that makes us unique

We all respect each other

No matter what language we speak.

We have festivals aplenty

A mix of music, beliefs and sports abound

Celebrating lands from near and far

Logan’s a mix of sights and sound.

So don’t be strangers, don’t be shy

Come on down and meet

A lovely bunch of girls and guys

Logan hospitality is a treat!

Gaill Macciocca,

Regents Park
