Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has been pulling on the victory jacket the past couple of weeks, to announce that every ball sport in the country is coming to Queensland.
We’re the sporting capital of Australia for the minute.
But where on earth are the V8s?
Why aren’t they making Logan their home while Covid-19 keeps Victorians south of the border?
Surely there’s something we can do with Kingston Park Raceway to accommodate the bigger cars.
Too ambitious? Turns too tight?
Okay then, let’s do it Gold Coast style and turn the streets of Browns Plains into a revhead spectacular for the weekend.
Think of the turns in and around Bunnings.
Think of the money that could be made. Cafes would be full. All-you-can-eat Pizza Hut would be queued for blocks.
And everyone with a spare bedroom could top their income up with a bunch of pineapples.
Lease out the roof to spectators. If it falls in, you probably needed a new one anyway.
Build a new one with the cash you’ve made. This time, build seats into it, because the event would be so well patronised, it’d be a permanent inclusion on the V8 calendar.
Come on, Logan. This is our chance to become the motor racing capital of Australia.
Don’t say I never come up with great ideas. Please.
