The sod has been turned on a new 266-home community in one of the country’s fastest growing suburbs.
The $200 million project at Park Ridge, called Somerset, will see house and land packages start from $622,000.
The first 52 lots have been released, with developer Ausbuild claiming strong interest from both local and interstate prospective homebuyers.
Joint managing director Matt Bell said last week’s sod turning marked Ausbuild’s first of hopefully many master planned communities in Logan.
He said Somerset provided opportunities for all types of buyers.
“In a region like this, affordability is key,” he said.
“We believe we’ve got house and land packages to support first home buyers who have been so often priced out of our current market.
“Through lot size, type and efficient housing design, we can deliver product for this segment of the market, along with upgraders, downsizes or investors.”
Local MP Linus Power and mayor Jon Raven joined Ausbuild for the sod turning.
Cr Raven said Park Ridge was the fastest growing suburb in Australia.
“There’s more internal migration to our city and to this part of our city than anywhere else in Australia,” he said.
“That’s why this investment from Ausbuild is so intelligent, because you want to be where the people want to go, and that is exactly what they’ve done by investing here.”
Cr Raven expressed big dreams for the suburb.
“In future years, as you go down Park Ridge Road, there’ll be libraries, there’ll be parks and aquatic centres, this will be an amazing place to live,” he said.
“But it all starts with turning the sod and having a development like this, with the vision and the confidence that Ausbuild have to have in this Somerset, Park Ridge community.”
