Police were called to Logan Hospital at around 11.20am on 29 August after receiving reports of an armed person.
“As a precaution, access to the hospital was restricted and members of the public were asked to avoid the area, if possible,” police said.
Officers conducted a “thorough search” of the area and found a male, but “no threat was detected”.
Police spoke with the man and have said there will be no further action taken.
Executive director of the Logan and Beaudesert health service, Anne Coccetti, said: “the safety of our patients, staff, and the community is our top priority”.
“During the incident, ambulances were temporarily diverted to nearby hospitals, and a small number of appointments were delayed,” Ms Coccetti said.
“We are pleased to confirm that all patients, visitors, and staff are safe, and there were no injuries related to the incident.
“We would like to thank the QPS and our dedicated staff for their quick and effective implementation of incident response procedures.
About two hours after the incident was first reported, the hospital released a statement saying it was “open and it is safe to attend to receive emergency and planned care”.
“All patients, visitors and staff are safe, and there were no injuries relating to this incident.
“We thank the Queensland Police Service and our staff for quickly and safely implementing incident response procedures.”
