A Logan-based charity that provides school supplies to families in need has received a “lifeline” amid challenges in meeting high demand.
The Kids4Kids Foundation, created in 2017 by then-nine-year-old Samuel Glancy, has been chosen by Officeworks staff to be supported in the company’s annual ‘Make a Difference’ appeal.
Samuel’s mother and Kids4Kids CEO Tanya Glancy said the extra support would help the charity gift more backpacks, stationery, and learning materials to local students.
“Partnering with Officeworks for the Make a Difference Appeal is a vital lifeline for our organisation, especially during these challenging times,” she said.
“The current economic conditions and pressures has families going without life’s basics including access to resources to further their children’s education.
“Working with Officeworks enables us to address these urgent needs more effectively, bringing essential school supplies to children who might otherwise go
without.
“This collaboration isn’t just about resources; it’s about bringing hope and better opportunities to children’s lives.”
Since the charity was established seven years ago, Kids4Kids has donated supplies to around 5000 families.
Its mission is to ensure “no child’s educational opportunities are limited by their socioeconomic status”.
The Officeworks appeal, now in its seventh year, last year raised more than $950,000 for 15 charities across Australia.
Managing Director Sarah Hunter said the appeal provided “opportunity for us to spotlight the important work of local organisations that are close to our hearts”.
“The fundraising efforts of our customers and teams this June will help to ensure that these organisations can continue their important work within their local communities and help make a positive difference to the lives of children by enabling them to learn, create and connect,” she said.
For the rest of June, Officeworks stores in Loganholme, Browns Plains, Underwood, Lismore, West Burleigh, Nerang, Upper Mt Gravatt, Coffs Harbour, Capalaba, Underwood, Pimpama, Southport, and Robina will be supporting Kids4Kids.
