An “out of control” hooning event that attracted hundreds of people and saw multiple police cars damaged was cut short on Saturday (9 March) afternoon.
Police from three districts were needed to shut down the Waterford West event and disperse the 350 people in attendance.
Police were called to the gathering at Bourke Street at around 2pm.
Police said “approximately 350 people attended the area”, some committing hooning-related offences.
Officers from Logan, Gold Coast, and South Brisbane districts, as well as specialist police, were called in and had “the event under control” around 4pm.
Three police cars were damaged at the event, police said.
No one was injured and one person has been taken into custody.
Further investigations are underway into the conduct of those involved.
