PROJECTS that enhance the City of Logan’s natural environments are in the mix for financial support.
The Logan City Council’s EnviroGrants program opened last week and is designed to help projects which safeguard local environments or encourage sustainable environmental practices.
Deputy mayor Jon Raven said strong environmental initiatives were a priority for Council.
“Our community is passionate about Logan’s natural environment,” Cr Raven said.
“We live in a unique and ecologically diverse area and people want to be actively involved in preserving and enhancing those environmental assets for the future.
“Council’s EnviroGrants program is designed to support community-based projects and to encourage those who care about our environment or wildlife, to get their projects off the ground.
“I’m looking forward to seeing some great local projects supported this year.”
Applications can be made across five key categories:
Environmental partnerships and capacity building
Environmental surveys and research
On-ground ecosystem restoration
Environmental education
Individual wildlife carer support

An environmental engagement survey is also open until February 21, allowing residents to have their say on council’s environmental initiatives, as well as to suggest priorities for the future.
