Football, food and fireworks will be featured at the grand opening of the Everleigh AFL Oval on 18 November.
The opening of the $15 million football field at Ivory Parkway in Greenbank will be a free family event, running from 5pm to 8pm.
Local footy teams will play matches, followed by Auskick skills sessions run by AFL Queensland, for local kids eager to take their first steps onto the field.
Players and spectators can also enjoy live music and entertainment, food trucks offering an array of cuisines, kids’ activities and competitions, and a fireworks finale after the sun goes down.
General manager of the field’s developer Mirvac, Warwick Bible, said he encouraged the community to help officially launch the new AFL oval.
“We hope to see lots of faces joining in the fun of our Football Festival, with plenty on offer for those who love AFL or are simply looking for an affordable and entertaining family day out,” he said.
“The competition grade AFL oval raises the bar for sporting fields in this region and sets the stage for the wider precinct, which will take shape over the next few years and herald a new era of sport and recreation for the wider community.
“We have engaged local sporting clubs to promote AFL and active living, and events like these serve
as a wonderful opportunity to cultivate this throughout the entire region.”
