Spring, a time of lifestyle and glory

September brings with it the beginning of spring and longer days.

It is also marks the end of the football season, League, Union, Football and AFL, with many of our local teams tasting success this year. 

Congratulations to the Beenleigh Junior Rugby League Club on their tremendous success this year.

Their Under 18 side were unstoppable, in their march to the premiership, taking out the Grand Final 26 to 12.

Congratulations in Waterford as well, to the Water Demons Rugby League Club’s Open Men’s Team who were crowned premiers in a nailbiter, 26 to 25, against North Stradbroke.

Waterford’s junior teams had impressive seasons too, with their Under 18 Girls side runners up in their campaign, being pipped by Burleigh for the premiership.  

The Mustang Brother Rugby League Club kept the great results going with their Reserve Grade SEQ Women’s side being crowned champions for 2023, beating out the Brisbane Natives in their Grand Final – excellent work!

The Eagleby Giants Junior Rugby League Clubs and Yatala Rams Junior Rugby League Club should also be commended on their efforts throughout all age groups.

In Football, our local teams have overachieved with brilliant seasons from not one, but three clubs.

This past weekend saw the Football Queensland Premier League (FQPL) 1 Men’s Semi-Final where Logan Lightning FC fought hard, but came up just short, 3-2, in their match against Wynnum – a fantastic achievement. 

We also had a local grudge match for the Under 23 Football Queensland Premier League 6 Grand Final between the Bethania Rams and Park Ridges Panthers.

Congratulations to the Bethania Rams on their win and to runners up, Park Ridge, on a tremendous campaign!

On our Aussie Rules teams, the Beenleigh Buffaloes and Park Ridge Pirates flew the flag locally, with the Buffaloes Women’s side taking out the Pride Cup in July.  

As the summer days approach, I look forward to the start of a new cricket season.
