Mayor Power and Deputy Mayor Koranski continue to promote the Bethania to Logan Village Rail Trail and make glowing comments on the desirability of the project.
I agree that a Rail Trail would be a nice attraction for the city. However, when you consider the high construction cost, in excess of $13 million, the ongoing operating expenses, the severe negative impact the proposed Rail Trail route will have on the residents of two retirement communities, then a reasonable, unbiased person would agree that the project cannot be justified.
Logan City Ratepayers, if the project proceeds as planned, expect your rates to increase significantly from 2024 to cover the costs.
In the current financial climate the council should not be progressing any non essential projects that increase expenditure without any direct income in return.
