For the past four years, Julie Park’s property in Jimboomba has been home to three generations of her family – her parents, her and her sister, and her nephew.
But now, after a series of health complications, the family has made the difficult decision to sell.
“We are very sad,” Ms Park said.
“These four years have just been absolutely wonderful.
“We don’t want to sell, but we think it’s probably best for us to do it now.”
Ms Park and her sister bought the property four years ago, and she said they decided to bring their parents along.
“Because we didn’t want to put them in a home,” she said.
“They still wanted to keep their own identity and have their own privacy, so the [granny flat] was perfect – it’s got everything and it’s fully contained.
“It was just perfect, especially considering everywhere else we looked.”
She said the property offered something to everyone in the family.
“There’s enough room for everybody to do their own thing,” she said.
“It’s quiet, it’s secluded, … we’re out far enough to have that country feel but we are still close to the hospital, which is especially good for mum.
“We have just loved every minute of it.”
But recently, because of a worsening dementia diagnosis, Ms Park’s dad had to move into a nursing home.
“And mum’s getting on towards 90 so we thought it would be best to scale down.”
The Jimboomba home sits on a 4000 square-metre block, containing four bedrooms, a study and two bathrooms in the main dwelling, and two bedrooms and another bathroom in the adjoining granny flat.
The property also boasts seven garage spaces, sheds, two vegetable gardens and an orchard filled with plum, nectarine, orange, mandarin, grape, pineapple and lemon trees – which Ms Park and her family planted together.
The home has been on the market since 22 May, and although Ms Park said the process has been “okay”, they’re holding out for the right buyer.
“We’re just waiting for that special person to come through, just like we did,” she said.
“Because we’ve put a lot of work into it ourselves. We’ve been busy.”
Once they sell, Ms Park said she, her sister and her mum are hoping to move to Beaudesert.
“We love the country, and want to keep that country feel,” she said.
“We’ll have the Beaudsesert hospital there and mum loves those little shops, so there’s plenty down there.”
The property is at 1-5 Yarra Glen Rise, Jimboomba.
