Ben Matthews Playground has been saved from sale by Logan City Council and will now welcome new tenants.
The newly refurbished centre has been a hub of the community for 48 years.
The new tenants, Amputees & Families Support Group Qld Inc, offer a variety of services to individuals, families and the wider amputee and limb different community.
They host social events, information sessions, peer support and loan equipment to those in need.
The group have also partnered with Brisbane South PHN to coordinate a Healthy Ageing Hub.
The program will provide information and support for people 50 years and older to help empower older people to confidently manage their health and wellbeing.
Local councillor Teresa Lane helped revive the building to its former glory.
“The story of Ben Matthews Playground has been a long one with many of us kids and our children having played there or attended the centre many decades ago,” Cr Lane said.
“So, it was awesome to be able to remove the Centre from a planned sale, restore the building back to better than its former glory and welcome what is hopefully lifelong tenants.”
