Whatever the team, I’ll be cheering you on

Nothing gives me greater pleasure, than supporting the more than 50 sporting clubs that are in our own backyard. It has been an exciting few weeks, with many clubs and teams launching their seasons.

I have had the pleasure of attending a number of games in the last few weeks, including the South Logan Magpies season launch a few weeks ago, while also watching the Logan Lightning and the Bethania Rams men’s teams in action in their respective games, all of which have been a thrill for me.

Just last month, I got together with the executives from the numerous sporting clubs across the region ahead of their upcoming 2023 seasons.

It was great to get together to chat about the challenges some clubs are facing, like clubhouse upgrades, possible new facilities, community grants and even first aid.

It is probably no surprise that when I’m not in Canberra attending parliament, there is one place you will find me, and that is attending community sports. It doesn’t matter the sport – I will be attending!

Community sport builds stronger, healthier, happier and safer communities. And I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of the sporting clubs in our region all the very best for their 2023 season.

This includes The Gold Coast Motocross Club, Logan River Redlands Horse Trail Riding Club, Logan City Lions, Beenleigh Hawks Baseball, Beenleigh Senior Rugby League, Park Ridge Pirates, Beenleigh Buffaloes, Beenleigh Junior Rugby League, Eagleby Giants, Logan Lightning, Ormeau Shearers, Ormeau Football Club, Mustang Brothers Rugby League, Yatala Junior Rugby Union, Waterford Rugby League, Ormeau Bulldogs and who could forget all our Netball Clubs who are beginning their seasons for 2023.

Whatever club you barrack for, good luck for the season – I’ll be cheering you all on from the sidelines!
