The Logan City Council has announced a new animal management strategy using sound-monitoring technology to investigate animal noise complaints.
The new plan aims to make it easier for people to report aggressive and stray animals and dogs barking.
With this technology, more accurate data can be recorded, and unhappy residents will no longer be required to write extensive noise complaint reports.
And the plan covers more than just noise control.
It is a three-year program to crack down on anti-social animal behaviour and enhance the education of the community about responsible pet ownership.
Proposed methods of achieving this include reviewing dog park signage, delivering public awareness messages and promoting complaint accessibility.
Mayor Darren Power said the plan was developed through extensive community consultation.
“This new Animal Management Plan renews our focus on ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all,” Cr Power said.
“It will act as a clear road map when it comes managing animals in our city.”
