AN alleged bungled robbery has ended with police dog Phantom at the forefront of a successful manhunt.
The alleged armed robber entered a Cusack Lane business at South Maclean soon after 1.15pm and produced a knife.
Police said the male store attendant gave cash and his car keys following demands from the alleged robber.
But police said when the man fled the store, he ran towards the employee’s car which he was unable to start.
They said in a statement he ran into bushland, where officers, Phantom and his handler searched the area and later took the man into custody.
He has been charged with one count each of enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence, armed robbery and attempted unlawful use of a motorvehicle.
He was denied police bail and was scheduled to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court yesterday (Monday February 20).
Detectives say the staff member was not physically injured during the incident.
