Last month, plans were released for the latest upgrade to Beenleigh’s sports infrastructure – brand new clubrooms and change rooms for Logan Lightning Football Club at Chris Green Park.
The planned upgrades are another important legacy project for the Logan area from the previous coalition government.
The $2.8 million redevelopment received a $600,000 grant from the government, in addition to $2.2 million from the City of Logan.
As well as providing a new and expanded clubroom for Logan Lightning FC, the upgrade will provide changerooms for male and female teams, to support the rapidly growing participation rate in sport amongst women and girls.
The new facility will also provide amenities for spectators, including a new kitchen and kiosk, covered viewing area, referee amenities, first aid room and additional storage space.
This project would not have been possible without the advocacy work undertaken by City of Logan councillor, Karen Murphy, who I worked closely with to secure support for the redevelopment, and Logan Lightning FC, in particular their past president Fred Waters and current president Andrew Birkett.
Thank you to you both for your tremendous efforts in delivering for our local community.

The upgrade at Chris Green Park is just one of many local community projects committed to, and delivered, by the previous Coalition Government.
Throughout the 2022 election campaign the Liberal National Party made a number of funding commitments for the Forde electorate, should they have been re-elected.
This included $5 million towards upgrading Beenleigh’s tennis complex and $3.6 million to fund improvements for the sports club at Hammel Park in Beenleigh.
I continue to advocate for the residents of Logan and have written to the Prime Minister and Treasurer, seeking their support in fulfilling these commitments.
These proposed projects, along with a completed upgrade at Chris Green Park, will be invaluable for grassroots sports in Beenleigh, providing vital support and outlets for growth for so many young people across the region.
