Fast food outlets subject to spate of armed robberies

Police are ramping up patrols of fast food outlets after a spate of robberies in recent days – one of them at Algester.

Four armed robberies have terrorised staff with a gun and knives, leading to calls for fast food outlets to be extra vigilant, and to lock their doors the minute they see anything or anyone suspicious.

Police said a major investigation has been launched.

They said three people held up a fast food restaurant at Commercial Drive, Springfield, around 9.30pm Sunday night.

Three bandits threatened employees before cash was stolen. They fled in a stolen 2003 white Ford Falcon utility with Queensland registration 120-FG7, in a north-east direction onto Springfield Parkway.

Three fast food businesses were robbed by the same group last night (Monday) between 9.15pm and 9.40pm in Rocklea, Salisbury and Algester. Employees were again threatened by a trio armed with a firearm and knives before cash was stolen.

A fourth offender waited outside in the stolen ute.

The first robbery occurred at a business located at the intersection of Granard Road and Short Street, Rocklea, the second a Kessels Road, Salisbury business and the third at a Beaudesert Road, Algester fast food outlet.

No one was physically injured.

The white Ford Falcon utility was located abandoned near the intersection of Johnson Road and Stapylton Road, Heathwood around 11.15pm.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the vehicle in recent days to contact them, or anyone with relevant dash cam footage to come forward.

Police are alerting fast food outlets to be extra vigilant and if they notice anything, anyone suspicious, or any suspicious vehicles , to lock their doors and immediately contact police.

Extra patrols of fast food outlets are being conducted by police.

Investigations by detectives from Ipswich and South Brisbane are continuing.

The trio is believed to consist of one male and two females.

The stolen white Ford Falcon utility had been stolen from a Carole Park address.
