A Loganholme construction worker plans to wipe out his mortgage, renovate his home and take a holiday after winning more than $2 million at his local pub.
Keno operator The Lottery Corporation said the unnamed tradie won $2,073,312.70 after scoring the Keno Classic 10 Spot jackpot in draw 473 on Tuesday 25 August.
The winning entry was purchased at Fitzy’s Loganholme, on the corner of the Pacific Highway and Bryants Road.
The winner said he was struggling to comprehend his sudden transformation into a multimillionaire.
“I’m like a stunned mullet,” he said.
“I’m walking around in circles because I don’t know what to do with myself. It’s such a surreal feeling.
“I checked my ticket on the night, but I didn’t want to get too excited. I tried to cool the jets a bit, but it was pretty hard. I didn’t get much sleep.”
The construction worker said the prize would remove some major financial pressures and reward him after years in a physically demanding industry.
“I’ll be able to pay off my mortgage and do some renovations,” he said.
“A holiday will be in order for sure. I’m a hard worker. I’m in construction and I’ve had injuries here and there but have stuck it out since my apprenticeship.”
The man selected the winning numbers himself, combining numbers with personal significance and others he had noticed appearing on the Keno screen.
After confirming the win, he headed for the beach to let the news sink in.
“The sun is shining and I’m heading to the beach now to relax and take it all in,” he said.
Fitzy’s duty manager Xavier Oliver said staff were stunned to learn the venue had sold the winning entry.
“I couldn’t believe that we had sold a $2 million winning Keno 10 Spot ticket,” Mr Oliver said.
“We’ll be celebrating the win with our team and sharing the exciting news with all of our customers and patrons.”
