While power restoration efforts have significantly progressed, approximately 2,000 homes remain without electricity across Logan.
At its peak, tropical cyclone Alfred left 46,000 homes without power.
Logan Village is among the hardest-hit areas, with 473 homes still affected.
Buccan has 445 homes without power, while Carbrook and Munruben each have around 200 affected properties.
According to Energex, power restoration for Logan Village and Buccan is expected by 16 March, leaving some residents without electricity for over a week since the outages began on 8 March.
Area Manager for Gold Coast and part of the Emergency Management Team for Energex Renee Kath acknowledged the community’s patience and assured residents that crews are working around the clock.
“We have 2,000 staff on the ground working tirelessly to restore power where it is safe to do so,” Ms. Kath said.
“The weather has caused significant challenges, bringing down trees and making access difficult due to boggy conditions. Despite these obstacles, we won’t stop until power is safely restored to all homes.”
Deputy Chair of the Logan Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) and Councillor Teresa Lane detailed the extensive response efforts by local authorities over the past week.
“I have been working long hours with the Mayor on council’s planning, response, and recovery efforts,” Cr Lane said.
“Councillors across the city have been coordinating emergency jobs, addressing downed trees, damaged traffic lights, road closures, and organising support services.”
Council has launched an online storm damage reporting page for residents to report issues such as fallen trees, blocked kerbs, and damaged roads.
As restoration continues, residents are urged to stay updated through official council and Energex channels for further updates on power restoration and recovery efforts.
