THE Logan City Community Cadet Unit is having an open day at its Browns Plains Cadet Depot on Saturday, June 4.
If they like what they see, boys and girls aged 13-18 will have the opportunity to trial being cadets for a small reduced fee.
There will be two sessions, one from 9am and the other from 12.30pm, and people are being asked to book – they’ll be able to watch cadets in military manoeuvres, navigating an obstacle course, doing first aid and tying knots.
There will be a sausage sizzle to raise money for the Wounded Heroes Association who support veterans in need, and cadets will be showcasing their Catafalque Party.
Local cadets were integral to Anzac Day ceremonies in April, forming guard parties at cenotaphs for the Vietnam Veterans and Veterans Motorcycle Club in Kingston, the Logan Village RSL, and marching as a unit at the Greenbank RSL main parade. Phone Anthea 0401 540 443 to book into a session.
