It’s not often a house for auction is mentioned in the same breath as a horror movie.
But last weekend, agents were selling what they’d nicknamed “The Aviary”. A less nice pet name is “The Birds”, referring to Alfred Hitchcock’s 1962 classic horror film.
The house is in the same street as another house which last year earned the label of “Brisbane’s worst house”.
And this one isn’t much better, at 54 Birch St, Marsden.
There’s no kitchen, no bathroom, and it’s been vacant for seven years.
Unless of course, you count the birds which have made the downstairs part of the home their new aviary.
However, as often only property agents can do, Ray White Marsden’s Rebecca Cuderman saw the upside.
She praised its block potential and location to the shops and schools nearby.
“And the fact it’s needing a full on renovation, it will be sure to spark some interest,” she said.
The market is in overdrive and auctions are back in vogue in the City of Logan.
“This neglected highset is really needing some loving,” the marketing spiel said.
“The kitchen, bathroom and toilet have been removed for your convenience ready for renovating or alternatively, demolish the house to reveal your blank canvas.
“This renovation is not one for the faint hearted, although an inspection is a must to see the potential that has been sitting stagnant for the past 7 years.”
The house did have three large bedrooms, a front deck, double garage and internal staircase.
For a renovator, there were hardwood floors and a garden shed.
The auction is at 2pm.
