Woolworths Meadowbrook is vowing to get to the bottom of allegations that needles were found in two separate punnets of strawberries at the supermarket yesterday (August 20).
Police are also investigating and said nobody was injured.
A Woolworths representative said today no other needles had been found in other punnets, but an investigation would be held in line with the organisation’s food safety procedures.
“We will assist the police with their investigation, and share CCTV footage as required,” the representative said.
“As a precautionary measure, our store team opened and inspected other punnets, we found no further product safety concerns in these checks.”
Channel 7 broke the story Thursday night, speaking with Logan father Raymond Kelly who claimed two strawberries in separate punnets had needles inside.
He claimed to have found the needles while chopping fruit for his daughter, aged 6.
