Woman killed in fire, New Beith

A person was killed in a house fire at New Beith in the early hours of this morning.

The woman, 31, was “known to the occupants but does not live at the residence”, a police statement said.

She was found dead inside the house.

A 30-year-old woman and three children aged 5, 3 and 2 escaped the residence without injuries but have been taken to the Royal Brisbane Hospital for observation.

A 33-year-old man, also from the residence, has sustained critical burns and was transported to the Royal Brisbane Hospital.

Preliminary investigations by police suggest the fire is suspicious.

A crime scene has been declared and investigations into this matter are now underway.
