Woman allegedly set on fire in Kingston, man charged with attempted murder

A 36-year-old Kingston man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly setting a woman on fire on Saturday morning.

Emergency services were called to a home on Kingston Court around 7.45am, where a 34-year-old woman was found with burns to her body, according to police.

Paramedics treated her at the scene before taking her to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a serious condition.

Police allege the man used a lighter to set the woman on fire during what they claim was a domestic violence altercation.

“The man was taken into custody and charged with one count each of attempted murder, common assault, and breach of domestic violence,” a police statement said.

The man is scheduled to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.

Detectives have established a crime scene at the home, and two other crime scenes at Gould Adams Park on Kingston Road and Kingston Train Station.

Investigations are continuing.
