Residents should prepare for wild weather, including severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall, which are expected to impact Logan from 6pm tonight, Thursday 12 February, until Sunday 15 February.
The Bureau has forecast up to 200mm of rain over the next four days and issued a minor to moderate flood warning for the Logan and Albert rivers.
Significant river flooding is considered unlikely, Logan City Council said.
Severe thunderstorms and heatwave conditions are also forecast, raising the potential for power outages.
Residents are being urged to take practical steps now, like securing loose items around the outside of their homes.
“Consider parking your car under cover and away from trees, powerlines and drains,” the council said.
“Consider securing or putting away outdoor furniture or items that could blow around in strong winds.
People with medical or mobility needs are urged to activate their Person-Centred Emergency Plan, ensure they have at least a week’s supply of medication and make arrangements for alternative power or transport if required.
Tourists, campers and caravanners are being advised to consider leaving early if they do not need to be in the area, or if they are near a river or creek.
For emergency help during floods or storms, residents can contact the Queensland SES on 132 500, or call Triple Zero (000) in life-threatening situations.
