Watch: ‘high-risk offender’ arrested and allegedly caught with bag of weapons

Footage has been released showing the moment police arrested a Logan man, 37, allegedly carrying a homemade gun, a taser, meat cleaver and more.

Police allege they received reports of an armed man, who they called a “high-risk offender” wanted for other matters, making threats near a King Street, Buderim address at about 4.40pm on 28 June.

“Officers arrived on scene a short time later and enacted a cordon around the address,” a police statement said.

“A few minutes after police arrived, the 37-year-old Loganlea man attempted to leave the address in a nearby vehicle but was intercepted on foot and arrested by police.

“It will be further alleged during a search of the man’s bag that a homemade firearm, a taser, a meat cleaver, and several other items were located.”

The 37-year-old Loganlea man has been charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a D/H/R category weapon, and one count of possession of knife in a public place, possessing dangerous drugs, fail to take reasonable care of syringe, authority required to possess explosives.
