Video: Eagleby man charged following $4.7m meth find

An Eagleby man, 41, has been arrested after a woman was alleged to have trafficked $4.7 million worth of methylamphetamine.

Police said drug and serious-crime detectives intercepted a Toyota Rav 4 on the M1 at around 7.30pm on Monday 18 March.

Police allege they located two “large sports bags” containing 35 bags of methylamphetamine concealed in packages to look like imported tea.

Around 35 kilograms of methylamphetamine was seized in total – valued at $4,725,000.

The driver and sole occupant of the car, a 41-year-old New South Wales woman, has been charged with trafficking dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing property obtained from proceeds from trafficking in dangerous drugs and possess thing used.

Following further investigations, police executed a search warrant at an Eagleby residence.

Police say they found a large amount of cash and one kilogram of cannabis.

A 44-year-old Eagleby man was charged with possessing dangerous drugs, possessing property obtained from proceeds, possession of things used and possess utensil. He was issued a notice to appear at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on 8 April.
