Shailer Park’s Mosaic Pizza has taken out the top gong to be named best pizza shop in Greater Brisbane.
Mosaic was awarded the title on Triple M’s breakfast show with Marto, Margaux and Dan, following hundreds of votes from local pizza enthusiasts.
“It’s amazing, it’s unbelievable,” Mosaic owner Louis Oberleuter said.
“I’m absolutely gobsmacked.
“It’s been eight years in the making – who would have thought eight years ago we would be best of Brisbane.”
Mr Oberleuter founded Mosaic on Bryants Road in 2015, and it has since become a staple of the community.
“Thank you to all the people out there who voted for us and supported us,” he said.
The radio hosts commended Mr Oberleuter on the achievement, and joked he should take up a job in marketing.
“You dead set had more billboards for this show than I’ve seen around town,” host Dan Anstey said.
“And you did it on social media too, you did it the right way.”
Mr Oberleuter said he pushed voting for the competition onto every customer who walked through the door.
“We promoted it and pushed it to get as much support for us as possible and make it really easy for people to vote as well,” he said.
“We had a little iPad sitting on the counter…so everyone who walked in the shop we asked: have you voted for us yet?
He said it helped the business was “very community orientated”.
“I sponsor the local basketball team, Logan Thunder, I sponsor the Mabel Park junior rugby league squad, I’m very much into all the schools and P & Cs,” he said.
“I support everyone, because at the end of the day, word of mouth is our bread and butter.
“And if those people know about us, and we support them, it just makes sense, and the relationship builds stronger and stronger.”
