Underwood Park recieves $2m funding package from state

Logan City Council has received a grant of up to $2 million from the state government to construct a car park at Underwood Park.

A spokesperson for the council said Underwood Park was one of the most popular in Logan, and that increasing the site’s parking capacity would make the park more accessible to residents and visitors.

“Providing more parking for Underwood Park was an election commitment made by the LNP in 2024, and it’s great to see them honouring that commitment,” a spokesperson said.

“It is home to several sporting clubs and includes multiple family facilities, including the popular Funderwood Hollow.

“Procurement for the design of the car park is expected to start soon.”

Minister for Local Government Ann Leahy said it was important to empower councils to deliver resources for their communities.

“That’s exactly what this funding will do for Logan, Somerset, Western Downs and Townsville,” Ms Leahy said.

“We’re investing in our state’s future and ensuring council can deliver the projects their communities really need to thrive.”
