Updated: Underwood armed robbery, police lay charges

Police have arrested a 15-year-old Labrador boy in connection with two alleged armed robberies in Underwood and Paradise Point.

Police allege the incidents, which occurred on the same day, Tuesday, 9 December, are linked.

He is scheduled to appear at the Southport Children’s Court today.

At around 2.40am, police said a white 2017 BMW X5 and a white 2016 Mercedes-Benz E350 were allegedly stolen at knifepoint from a property on The Crescent in Underwood.

Police then allege the two cars were driving dangerously on Reserve Road in Upper Coomera alongside a third car, a blue Ford Falcon, which police allege was stolen at around 3am from Cresswell Crescent in Upper Coomera.

“It is alleged two occupants exited the stolen Mercedes and entered the Ford, before fleeing,” police said in a statement.

“A subsequent search of the Mercedes located a replica firearm and a knife inside.

“The Ford was located abandoned further along Reserve Road around 3.30am.”

Just before 2 am this morning, an armed robbery at Paradise Point’s O’Grady Drive left a 41-year-old man with minor wounds to his left arm and face, police said.

Police said a group of armed people entered the O’Grady Drive house and stole a grey 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE53, which they later found abandoned on Exit 26 of the Pacific Motorway at Shailer Park.

The injured man was taken to Gold Coast University hospital in a stable condition, police said.

No one was injured during the armed robbery in Underwood.

The 15-year-old boy is expected to appear before Southport Children’s Court today to face charges of 15 offences related to dangerous driving and robbery.

Police said their investigations into the incidents continue.
