Two teenagers die in bike crash, Greenbank

Two teenagers have died after an e-bike and a motorcycle crashed on Carlton Road and Middle Road in Greenbank last night.

Police said the Harley Davidson motorcycle was overtaking a car on Middle Road when it crashed into an e-bike travelling in the opposite direction.

The teenage boy, 16, and girl, 15, who were riding the e-bike, died at the scene, police said.

The motorcyclist, a 52-year-old Greenbank man, was taken to hospital with serious chest injuries in a stable condition, emergency services said.

Five paramedic units responded to the incident, Queensland Ambulance Services said.

At a media conference this afternoon, Chief Superintendent Mark Wheeler said the e-bike did not have headlights or any illumination at the time of the crash, a factor police are investigating.

Mr Wheeler also said he was aware that the stretch of road where the crash happened was particularly dark.

The relationship between the two teenagers is unknown by police at this stage, Mr Wheeler said.

Police are appealing to the public to come forward if they witnessed the crash, which took place at 9pm on 12 March, or who have relevant dashcam or CCTV footage.
