Two stolen cars in flames, teen arrested

Two stolen cars have been found in flames in west Logan just one hour apart.

The first vehicle, a Ford Courier, was found in flames near Logan Reserve Road, Logan Reserve, at around 1am this morning (Tuesday 27 February).

Emergency crews extinguished the fire shortly afterwards, but the utility was destroyed.

Police say the vehicle was first reported stolen from a Waterford West address on Sunday 25 February.

Later that morning, at around 2.15pm, emergency crews were called to reports of a Toyota Camry also on fire near Standford Place, Regents Park.

Police say the Camry was “completely destroyed” by the blaze.

It was reported stolen from an Algester address on Friday 23 February.

A 15-year-old Algester boy was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlicenced driving in relation to the alleged theft of the car on Friday.

“He was dealt with under provisions of the Youth Justice Act,” a police spokesperson said.

“Officers are investigating the circumstances of both fires and are appealing to anyone who may have information that may assist to come forward.”
