An Eagleby man was arrested on 13 September for allegedly setting a Gold Coast business on fire.
The 49-year-old, along with a 51-year-old man from Moorooka, has been accused of setting alight Eye Candy Motorsports – a custom car-wrapping business on Distribution Court at Arundal.
The fire was started around 3.30am on Wednesday 28 June.
Fire crews attended the blaze.
The property was significantly damaged, but no one was injured.
Police executed search warrants at Eagleby and Moorooka where the two men were taken into custody.
Police say they are continuing to investigate another fire that occurred in the same complex four days prior to the Eye Candy arson attack.
This fire began around 3.30am on Saturday 24 June.
Detective Acting Inspector Mark Proctor said, in June, that police initially believed the two fires were connected.
“We think the first fire was an accident, they got the wrong unit, and we believe they came back the second time better prepared,” he said.
“They created a lot more damage and we believe the second unit was their intended target.
“The first attempt was pretty amateurish, the second was quite organised – you can see in the footage the explosion it made.
“Normally when you talk about people targeting businesses something is thrown through the front window… This is gone to a lot of trouble to either send a message or to cause financial detriment to the person.”
The Eagleby man was charged with arson and police will allege he refused to hand over an electronic device. He is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court today on September 13.
The Moorooka man was charged with arson, possessing a dangerous drug, possessing a utensil and possessing knuckle dusters.
He is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on September 14.
