From vintage collectables and forgotten treasures to household and handmade finds, the Beenleigh Historical Village Boot and General Markets is much more than what’s for sale.
Held at the Beenleigh Historical Village and Museum, the market is a community gathering where locals can browse unique stalls, support local sellers and enjoy a relaxed day out.
Entry is a gold coin donation, with proceeds helping maintain the village’s heritage buildings.
Event organiser Tiffany Smith said the Beenleigh Historical Village had been having monthly markets for years.
“A couple of years ago, we decided to do just a car boot one, so it wasn’t just craft stalls,” Ms Smith said.
While every market is different, visitors can expect rows of stalls filled with antiques, books, clothing, homewares and hidden gems.
Ms Smith said people could expect to find second hand stalls.
“Second hand shopping, bargains, craft stalls. All stalls are welcome.”
Families can wander through the stalls, collectors can search for unique finds, and locals can stop to chat over a coffee. The event is more than just shopping locally; the community atmosphere will ensure that everyone has a good time, Ms Smith said.
“We are getting together as a community, supporting each other. That’s what it’s all about,” she said.
As interest in sustainable shopping continues to grow, community markets like this encourage people to think differently about the value of second-hand goods while supporting local events.
The car boot and general markets are expected to have around 15-20 stalls on the day.
“It’s $25 for a stall, gold coin entry, and all profits are going to our heritage church restoration.”
Whether visitors leave with a vintage collectable, a bargain buy or simply an enjoyable morning spent with family and friends, the market is one place where the Beenleigh community can come together, one treasure at a time.
The car boot sale runs from 8am-noon on Saturday, 22 August.
