People can step back in time and enjoy traditional carnival games such as Tin Can Alley, Ball in the Bucket and Beat the Buzzer at a new community event.
Taking place for the first time from 9am-2pm on Saturday 26 September at the Beenleigh Historical Village and Museum, the Village Carnival aims to bring the community together with games, live entertainment, food and market stalls.
Event organiser Tiffany Smith said the carnival was about taking the community back to old carnivals.
“The Village Carnival is going to be taking carnivals back to tradition with traditional carnival games and activities that we don’t see so much of today and it’s all manual,” Ms Smith said.
As the carnival makes its debut, organisers hope it will become a much loved annual event that gives families and friends the chance to spend quality time together while supporting the local community.
“All our funds are going towards the restoration of our heritage listed church, because we do need a lot of funds to help restore it. It’s a fun day out for families,” Ms Smith said.
Visitors can look forward to a full day of entertainment, with plenty of attractions for children, adults and everyone in between.
“The highlight will definitely be the shooting gallery… it’s the highest weighted game at four tickets to play,” Ms Smith said.
The carnival is an affordable outing for families, with one ticket costing $1. One person can play all the games for $20.
From delicious food to live entertainment and community stalls, there is something to suit every age, Ms Smith said.
Families are also advised to bring cash and be ready to have fun.
