Tough day sees flood of support for police

In a challenging day for police officers after the shooting of two of their own in western Queensland, they’ve been given a showing of support by their community.

Daisy Hill police said they were warmly welcomed during a Coffee with a Cop event at Daisy Hill’s St Coco Cafe this morning,

People chatted with police over a cuppa for more than an hour.

Officers, alongside councillor Mindy Russell and the Logan City Community Safety Team, responded to a number of concerns from local members in the open platform.

Topics covered included the recent burglaries in Shailer Park and Daisy Hill, information about police responses, Home Layered Security Assessments and the Community Camera Alliance.

The importance of providing timely and accurate information to Policelink or Crime Stoppers, rather than Facebook, was also discussed.

“It was heartening to hear so many messages of support for police from the community and appreciation for the work done by the service,” a police statement said.

“Your kind words are greatly appreciated.”
