RIGHT now, all our lives are changing as Australia battles COVID-19. Despite these unprecedented times the Government is taking all possible steps to save lives and livelihoods, including providing a record $314 billion in economic support to those who need it most.
Our fiscal measures are helping to save an estimated 700,000 jobs and over 5,300 organisations in Forde alone to keep Australians connected to their employment so they can have a job on the other side of this crisis.
But as we work to overcome the challenges ahead, we must shift our focus from job keeping to job making.
Together, we can transform the City of Logan into a real economic powerhouse and deliver the opportunities for Australians to reach their hopes and aspirations for years to come.
Logan is already benefiting from millions of dollars of Federal Government investment. Whether it’s delivering the $1.7 billion-dollar M1 upgrade, $37.5 million dollar Mt Lindesay Highway upgrade or $33.4 million for a new urgent and specialist care centre, we’re committed to creating the jobs needed to fuel and grow Logan’s economy.
We’re also providing tax relief, investment incentives and over $3 million in grants is going to local manufacturing businesses help them modernise, boost their capability and employ more locals.
Today’s budget will build on those investments and play a critical role in the City’s transformation. I encourage you to watch the Treasurer’s budget speech tonight at 7:30pm, undoubtedly the most significant in our generation.
As your local Federal Member for Forde, please know I will continue to be a strong advocate for you in Canberra and work closely with Prime Minister Scott Morrison (ScoMo) to deliver our JobMaker Plan for economic recovery right here in Logan.
