Third candidate enters race for mayor

A third mayoral candidate has entered the race for Mayor of Logan City, weeks behind his competitors.

According to the Queensland Electoral Commission, James Reid is vying for Logan’s top job at the next local government election on 16 March.

Mr Reid is yet to launch his campaign, unlike the other contesters, Jon Raven and Brett Raguse, who have signs displayed throughout the city and a frequent online presence.

Electoral commission data shows Mr Reid nominated as a Division 3 candidate at the 2020 election, but placed last behind four others with only 6.64 per cent of the vote.

Mr Raguse also ran for mayor at the 2020 election, placing second with 18.91 per cent of the vote.

In 2020, incumbent Cr Raven won the Division 5 seat convincingly with 67.64 per cent of the vote.
