The Logan Cup, our own horse race

T’was Captain Patrick Logan, Commandant of Moreton Bay
Who stepped out for the Melbourne Cup, together with his Bay
Departure from the Sunshine State, saw endless skies of blue
But storm clouds gathered high as New South Wales the pair trekked through
The bridges of Victoria were all signed “Do not cross”
So Patrick hoofed it for the hills, and left behind his ‘Hoss’
He chanced upon a chap who had a mountain side abode
T’was Mulga Bill of Eagle Hawk, a bicycle he rode
Said William “If you need a stead, you’re welcome to my bike
to get a quicker run, install an engine, if you like”
So Patrick won, but other riders did a dummy spit
So much that future bikie entrants, they would not admit
but his amazing racing feat, we ought to celebrate
how ’bout we name a super road for him? it’s not too late
yes! let’s put up a monument  ( i’d be prepared to pay)
to honour his great win..I know! The LOGAN…’Motor’-Way.
