Holly and Clint Wilson say hard work and long hours are the secret to their 20-year Jimboomba Bakery success.
Mr and Mrs Wilson met at university, where they both studied business. An opportunity to put their business skills to the test in Logan, two states away from where their home was in Victoria at the time.
After training at a bakery in the Gold Coast, the pair opened their bakery in Jimboomba.
“It was long hours in the beginning, we’re both working seven days a week, five-hour days,” Mrs Wilson said.
“We did that for about nine months, when we were establishing the bakery.
“It [Jimboomba] was very country back then; we loved the country feel.”
Today, the bakery’s hottest-selling items are pies and bread, which Mrs Wilson said is “next level soft, fresh, made every day, beautiful.”
Popular flavours of pie include cheese and bacon, and jalapeno and cheese. Mrs Wilson said the bakery was often trialling new flavour combinations and listening to customer cravings.
It’s impossible to know what the next two decades will bring to the business, Mrs Wilson said she and her husband weren’t sure what’s to come.
The connections the Wilsons have made with the community have been one of the most rewarding aspects of the job.
“We’ve got good relationships with our local communities, local footy clubs, school markets and things like that which have evolved over the years,” Mrs Wilson said.
“I love my customers; the customers make it so great to be in here every day.
“I’ve got customers that I’m still serving all these 20 years later, so they’re the ones that keep us going.”
